The Bath House

Featuring separate male and female bath house areas as well as extensive communal hydrotherapy pools, Paradise Day Spa has one of the most comprehensive spa facilities in Australia, perhaps even the world. The male and female bath houses feature a range of bathing facilities borrowed predominately from Japanese, Roman and Turkish traditions. Each bath house contains a hot and cold pool, a steam room and a sauna.

The separate changing areas contain plentiful locker space, toilets and showers, and can easily cater for large groups if required.

Due to the health benefits of the hydrotherapy pools, we recommend that you use these pools before other treatments such as body massages and body wraps, to get the most out of your treatments. You should plan to use the pools for at least one hour prior to treatment and at least one hour afterwards. Access to the bath house is unlimited for the day; it is included in most treatments, but can be purchased separately.

The maximum benefits from the bath house can be achieved by alternating between the Hot Pool and Cold PoolDispite popular belief, the real benefit from the Pools is gained not from the water itself, but from the temperature of the water, and the changes in temperature. Even though the cold plunge pool is not cold by Antartic scales, your body will certainly notice the difference between the two pools. By alternating between the two pools, the pores in the skin open and close to provide a cleansing effect, removing dirt and toxins, while the hot plunge pool has the additional benefit of cleansing the skin through the the promotion of sweating.

How to use the pools

The best way to use the plunge pools, is to spend about 10 mins at a time in each of the pools, alternating several times. Of course, some visitors prefer to just stay in the hot pools the whole time, which is also a good alternative. Then once you are ready to sample something a little more invigorating, take a quick glass of water and head over to the steam rooms or sauna. Make sure you adjust the temperature to a comfortable level before going inside. It is recommended to spend no longer than 15 minutes at a time in the Steam rooms or saunas as they can very quickly de-hydrate the body, as the heat sweats out all the toxins, as well as the fluids in your body. For this reason it is very important to drink lots of water. There are water fountains placed in the bath houses for your convience.

Why would I use the Steam rooms and sauna ?

Sit back and relax as the steam rooms and saunas sooth and relieve your body of aches and pains. Those with joint aches and muscles aches will find comfort in the constant heat of the steam rooms, as the muscles are relaxed and the heat encourages better mobility in the joints. A couple of deep gentle breaths will help clear your airway passages and ease your mind. All hot water therapies provide benefits through increased blood circulation, boosting the immune system, easing muscular aches and pains, opening the airways to improve breathing, and reduce stress and tension through relaxation. For all the above reasons these facilities are most popular with sufferers of sports injuries, rheumatoid arthritis, back, joint and muscle pain. Although everyone of all ages will find benefit from the rooms.

Why a Bath House in Australia ?

Although the Australian Spa industry has traditionally not combined the concept of the Bath House with the Day Spa Industry, there is increasingly more demand for these types of facilites to be made available to Spa visitors world-wide. European and Asian customers have long been privileged to having the availbility of the Bath House concept alongside thier spas. Although bath houses have seen a decline in thier use, the resurgence of the bath house combined with a day spa is strong, as customers are asking for more than just a quick massage and then being forced to dress and go home. Which is why at Paradise Day Spa and Bath House the customer is encouraged to spend the day, utilising all the wonderful services we offer.  As many more Australians are recognising the benefit of the Bath House, they are joining thier overseas counterparts in embracing the Bath House as part of thier Day Spa experience.
